Types of Pediatric Dental Services Offered

Cleanings

Professional dental cleanings are an important part of your child’s dental checkups.

We recommend bringing children into the office as soon as their baby teeth start to come in, as early as 1 year old.

These early visits allows us to make sure that your child’s development is on track. It’s also good practice for letting them get acclimated to the dentist so they feel at home and comfortable for years to come.

During the cleaning portion of the exam, our hygienist will remove plaque, tartar and stains.

We apply fluoride to prevent cavities, as well as educate your child about proper home care and the best ways to maintain their oral health.

We also provide holistic dental, fluoride-free options for parents and children.

Teeth Sealants

One of the issues that can be a problem for young dental patients are cavities. To prevent tooth decay, we can apply teeth sealants. Dental sealant is a thin, plastic coating painted on the chewing surfaces of teeth to prevent tooth decay.

The sealant quickly bonds into the grooves and depressions of the teeth, forming a protective shield over the tooth enamel.

Fluoride Treatment

Fluoride coats the teeth, preventing plaque from building up and hardening on the tooth’s surface, which is what leads to cavities and decay.

Your hygienist might also recommend adding products to your child’s home care routine, such as mouthwash, gel, or antibacterial rinse. You can buy some of these products over-the-counter while others require a prescription.

The team at Cleveland Smile Center is happy to answer any questions you have about the benefits of fluoride and the best products for your unique situation.

For fluoride-free treatment options we also offer holistic dentistry for you and your family.
